EV charger installation in Fremont and across the Bay Area

We do the electrical work ourselves — no subcontractors, no handoffs. That is why we can hold a fixed price and why there is one company accountable when something needs fixing later.

The five stages

1. Site survey

We open the panel, count spare breaker positions, check the main service rating and measure the run from panel to parking. For homes this is free and takes about twenty minutes. For commercial sites it is a paid engineering visit, credited back against the project if you proceed.

You can shortcut this for simple homes: text us a photo of your open panel and your parking spot, and we can usually quote from that.

2. Fixed-price quote

Line items for hardware, labour, materials and permit fees. If we misjudge the conduit run, that is our problem, not a change order. The only thing that moves the price is you changing the scope.

3. Permit & utility

We pull the electrical permit under our C-10 licence. Where a rebate or utility make-ready programme applies, we prepare and submit that paperwork too. For DC fast charging the utility application goes in first, because it is the longest pole in the tent.

4. Installation

Circuit run, unit mounted, breaker landed, commissioned and tested. Residential is typically four to six hours in one visit. Commercial runs two to five days with a phase plan so parking stays usable.

5. Inspection & handover

We meet the city inspector, get the sign-off, then set up the app with you — scheduling, off-peak windows, and monitoring. You keep the permit record, which matters at resale.

Afterwards

Three-year parts and labour warranty as standard. Networked units report faults to us automatically, so we often know about a problem before you call. Commercial service agreements carry a four-hour response target in business hours.

What actually drives the price

Installed cost is mostly determined by three things, none of which is the charger itself:

Distance from panel to parking spot

The single biggest variable. A charger mounted on the other side of the wall from the panel is a couple of hours of work. The same charger 60 feet away, across a finished ceiling or under a driveway, can triple the labour. Trenching through concrete is the expensive case.

Spare capacity in your panel

A 200-amp panel with free breaker slots is straightforward. A full 100-amp panel means either a load-management device — which lets the charger back off when the dryer and oven are running, usually a few hundred dollars — or a full service upgrade at $3,000 to $8,000. We will always price the load-management option first, because it solves the problem for most households at a fraction of the cost.

Whether the wall is finished

An unfinished garage lets us surface-mount conduit quickly. Finished drywall means fishing cable, cutting access holes and patching. Not difficult, but it is time.

Permits are not optional and the shortcut is not worth it. An unpermitted 240-volt circuit will surface during a home sale, and insurers have declined electrical-fire claims on unpermitted work. The permit fee in most Bay Area cities is modest relative to the exposure. We include it in the quoted price rather than treating it as an add-on.

Elapsed times assume normal permit queues. Fremont, San Jose and Oakland residential electrical permits are commonly issued within a few business days; complex commercial plan checks take longer.
